Water Healing

🧭 We open the directions and smudge to let water hold the listening.

1 / 5

Water knows how to hold what has no name yet.

Water knows how to hold what does not yet have a name. Water Healing —Janzu— opens a space of trust to be received without haste, with deep listening, silence, and care.

You do not need to know how to swim. You will be held in the water at all times by the person accompanying you; we move at your pace, with listening, breath, and the care needed for you to let go little by little.

Resolving Inquiries

Do I need to know how to swim?

No. At no point are you alone in the water — the facilitator holds you throughout. Your only job is to let go and trust the water and the hands that carry you. Many people who cannot swim find Janzu their most transformative experience precisely because they must release control.

Is Janzu the same as Watsu?

They are distinct practices. WATSU® was created by Harold Dull in California in 1980, drawing on Zen Shiatsu he studied in Japan. JANZU was developed in Mexico by Mexican teacher Juan Villatoro, known as Patik. Both take place in water, yet each has its own lineage, language, and way of accompanying the body.

Will my head go underwater?

Yes, there are moments of brief immersion (2 to 5 seconds) with ears covered by plugs. It is completely safe and consensual. If you have an ear condition or feel strong resistance, we work together to find the right level of immersion for you.

What can emerge in a Janzu session?

Water is the element of the emotional in many traditions. It is very common for childhood memories, sensations of intrauterine peace, tears of release, or simply a quiet nervous system that feels like coming home to emerge. Many report it is the closest experience to the mother's womb they have had as adults.

What should I wear and how do I prepare?

Wear a swimsuit. Avoid eating 2 hours beforehand. If you have long hair, bring it tied back. Come ready to let go of control — that is all the preparation you need.

Is Janzu recommended if I have hydrophobia?

Janzu is not a treatment for hydrophobia. If water brings up anxiety, please tell us before booking: we can talk without pressure about what you need, and you may stop, pause, or decline any immersion at any time. If the fear is intense, persistent, or affects daily life, we recommend speaking with a qualified mental-health professional first.

Will I be sober and conscious during the ceremony?

Yes. This ceremony is held to be experienced with presence and clarity; psychedelics and intoxicating substances are not used before, during, or after the ceremony. Before confirming, we explain each element so you can arrive feeling at ease.
