Full Moon Temazcal moment 1

Full Moon Temazcal

Resolving Inquiries

Is it like a sauna or steam bath?

No. The temazcal is a sacred Mesoamerican ceremony with over 3,000 years of history. While there is moist heat, its essence is spiritual: it includes chants, prayers, medicinal plants, and healing work. The heat is just the vehicle, not the destination.

What if I feel claustrophobic?

It is normal to feel some apprehension before entering. The temazcal teaches you to breathe with what you feel rather than flee from it. You can always exit if needed — the door is your freedom. In over five years of facilitating, most people who were afraid end up being the ones who want to stay the longest.

Are there any contraindications?

If you have uncontrolled hypertension, heart disease, epilepsy, first-trimester pregnancy, or take medications sensitive to heat, let us know beforehand. We adapt the ceremony or guide you toward a more suitable alternative. Your safety is our priority.

How do I prepare?

Light fasting or no heavy food 3 hours before. Arrive well-hydrated the day before and before the ceremony. Bring comfortable clothes or a swimsuit, a towel, and water. Avoid alcohol 24 hours before. Most importantly: come without fixed expectations and with an open heart.

What will I feel during the ceremony?

Each temazcal is unique. Some people cry, others feel deep peace or euphoria. Memories, visions, or simply an inner silence you have not felt in years may emerge. The heat opens the pores — but also the mind and the heart. What emerges is exactly what you need.

Will I be sober and conscious during the ceremony?

Yes. This ceremony is held to be experienced with presence and clarity; psychedelics and intoxicating substances are not used before, during, or after the ceremony. Before confirming, we explain each element so you can arrive feeling at ease.
