A baby shower is a Western celebration focused on material gifts. The blessingway is a tradition of the Navajo peoples of North America. What we offer is a Baby Blessing from Mexican indigenous tradition: a ceremony where the community spiritually holds the mother, covers the womb with prayer, and prepares the path for the arriving soul.
Ideally between weeks 28 and 36 of pregnancy: when the belly is visible, the mother is entering inner preparation, but before the final days of gestation become difficult. If the baby has already been born, we can also do the welcoming ceremony — there is no wrong time to honor a life.
Yes. This ceremony requires no specific tradition. It requires love for the mother and openness to receive the ritual with respect. We have accompanied families of all backgrounds and beliefs.
Opening with sahumeria and copal, a ceremonial cacao drink for the mother and the circle, offering words from each participant, a blessing of the womb with flowers, live medicine music, a rain of petals, and a closing intention for birth. It lasts 2 to 3 hours.
Absolutely. Mexican tradition is communal. Fathers, grandmothers, sisters, close friends: all have a place in the circle.
Yes. This ceremony is held to be experienced with presence and clarity; psychedelics and intoxicating substances are not used before, during, or after the ceremony. Before confirming, we explain each element so you can arrive feeling at ease.
